Marquette King talks to Ray Guy frequently and Guy is impressed with King

Ray Guy is a legend if you look at punters, because of his amazing leg.  The former Raider and Hall of Fame candidate is tied for 89th in NFL history in gross punting average, with 42.4 yards per kick. No. 1 on the list is Marquette King, who averaged 48.9 yards in his first season as the Raiders punter. (Shane Lechler, who had the job the previous 13 years, is second at 47.6.)

Guy said he was aware of King back at Fort Valley State University, before he signed with the Raiders, and talks to him fairly often.

“We talked before the Eagles game, and he’ll call or text me if he has any questions or wants to chat,” Guy said. “He’s great. He will be a great asset for the Raiders for years to come. Marquette has a very powerful leg, and he is very natural with great coordination,” Guy said. “He’s learning that kicking it harder sometimes doesn’t always work out.”
