Week 13 QB Index, It starts in Buffalo and ends in Philly

Bills young QB Josh Allen tore it up in week 13 winning the Offensive Player of the Week. Allen has been ballin in 2020

By: NFLHeads

  1. Josh Allen

Josh Allen looked like early season Allen again, throwing for 375 yards and four touchdowns, absolutely TORCHING a 49ers defense that was giving up plays all over the place. The Bills look like they are poised to be the strongest candidate to challenge the Chiefs in the playoffs this year, and to me they are behind only the Chiefs as the strongest AFC Super Bowl candidate.

  1. Aaron Rodgers

The Packers destroyed the Eagles on Sunday, 30-16. Rodgers did normal Rodgers things, throwing for 295 yards, three touchdowns, and no picks. The Packers are the clear NFC frontrunner in my opinion, and Rodgers is showing no signs or recession even with Jordan Love starting to collect dust on the bench.

  1. Patrick Mahomes

What else can be said, Mahomes is just awesome. I would have liked to see him put more than 22 points on the Broncos, but I will take what I can get, and aside from that Mahomes still had a great game, throwing for 318 yards and a touchdown.

  1. Baker Mayfield

Baker had a massive game for the Cleveland Browns, throwing for over 300 yards and 4 touchdowns. This is momentous not only because it was a great rematch of week 1 2019 where the Browns got spanked by the Titans coming off of offseason hype, but because this locks down a winning season for the Browns! Even if they were to lose out they would still go 9-7, which let’s be honest every Browns fan has to feel ecstatic about that. So whether you think Baker is overhyped or underhyped, you do have to admit that he has been at least a slight upgrade for this franchise.

  1. Ryan Tannehill

Tannehill tried his very hardest to dig the Titans out of a massive hole against the Cleveland Browns, but ended up being unsuccessful, only scoring 35 points. So if Tannehill did not end up winning the game for the Titans, why is he so high? 28 of those point were in the second half, the Titans were stupid close because of how well Tannehill was playing. And yes, the Titans need to quit having slow starts, but Tannehill had a very promising performance in my book.

  1. Derek Carr

Possibly a generous rank given that the Jets defense has all the skill and excitement of a high school football team, but nobody can deny that Carr was instrumental in leading the Raiders to a come from behind win over the winless Jets. Other than that Carr had a pretty good game, throwing for 381 yards, three touchdowns, and a pick against the Jets.

  1. Matthew Stafford

Matthew Stafford rallied the Lions to a 34-30 win against the Mitch Trubisky led Chicago Bears, and Stafford looked more like an elite quarterback than in past weeks. Every so often, Stafford will have a game like this where he plays more like a quarterback that can lead this team to big seasons, but mark me words in 1-3 weeks he will have another game where he lays down and lets the opposing team walk all over him.

  1. Phillip Rivers

Rivers did what he needed to do to beat a morabund Texans team on Sunday, and although I do not think they are at all ready for a deep playoff push, I do think that there are parts of this team that show great promise. All this being said, I do not consider Rivers as the future for this organization.

  1. Taysom Hill

Hill is playing amazing football I admit it, however for all you people sketching the Saints into the Super Bowl just listen to this. If the Saints start Drew Brees, who let’s be honest was not playing as well as Taysom Hill is, they will not make the Super Bowl. On the other hand, if you start Hill then you are relying on a first year starter to bring you to the Super Bowl, not even Patrick Mahomes could do that. So let’s all calm down on the Saints Cinderella story

  1. Jared Goff

Goff had a pair of touchdowns on Sunday, one in the air and one on the ground. Goff delivered in his win against the Arizona Cardinals, a win that I think was necessary for a team that looked like it was starting to lose popularity as a viable playoff team.

  1. Lamar Jackson

Lamar looked decent enough against the Cowboys, moving the ball mostly with his mobility rather than with his passing. To be fair, the Cowboys defense is certainly nothing to get excited about, however Lamar looked good today which brings some hope to the Ravens as far as the playoffs are concerned.

  1. Kyler Murray

Murray threw three touchdowns and a pick against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, but it was not enough to come away with the win, especially on a day where Goff was playing so well. This was an example of how the Cardinals are very good, but not yet ready to make a Super Bowl push just yet.

  1. Alex Smith

YEAH GET IT ALEX, Alex Smith rallied the Washington Football team to beat the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night, a move that seemingly nobody saw coming. This strengthens Washington’s playoff push, even against the Giants who also beat a big opponent over the weekend.

  1. Deshaun Watson

No passing touchdowns for Watson today, but he did plenty on the ground against the Indianapolis Colts. Even though the game ended in a Texans defeat, there are still plenty of things to be excited about with Watson, especially with a coaching change on its way.

  1. Kirk Cousins

Kirk Cousins threw for over 300 yards, three touchdowns, and a pick in their win against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Cute. All of the people who are saying Kirk Cousins is now good again need to calm down however, the Jaguars and the Panthers are not exactly juggernaut defenses, and Cousins narrowly won both of those games.

  1. Ben Roethlisberger

Big Ben and the Steelers are not as bad as they are currently being made out to be. So maybe the Steelers first loss was just a tad embarrassing, some of that comes down to luck, some of it comes down to Big Ben’s age, and some of it is due to the fact that they lost Bud Dupree for the season. So let’s all calm down on writing off the Steelers for any sort of contention, they are still a good team.

  1. Matt Ryan

For the second time in his life, Matt Ryan, a former first round pick that is locked in at the quarterback position lost to an undrafted free agent backup quarterback who also plays tight end, wide receiver, return specialist, and the occasional linebacker. I am sorry, but that is unacceptable, one loss was enough, but twice is just sad.

  1. Russell Wilson

Wilson at 18. Too low? Sorry, when it comes to tomato can teams with backup quarterbacks beating supposed Super Bowl contenders that have one of the best quarterbacks in football I have no mercy. The fact that Wilson was able to drop no more than 12 points on the New York Giants of all teams, is frankly astounding.

  1. Tua Tagovailoa

Tua did what had to be done to beat the Cincinnati Bengals, but to tell you the truth there was not actually that much that had to be done. Tua threw for 296 yards, a touchdown and a pick in the Dolphins win against the Bengals. While this may not have been the jaw dropping performance we were waiting for, there is plenty to be excited about with this team and I am excited to watch Tua for the next few years.

  1. Sam Darnold

The Jets were so close, if only the defense knew how to close they would be a 1-11 team tied with the Jaguars for the number 31 seed in the NFL; good heavens that’s a depressing sentence. When all is said and done, Darnold looked better but still not good, throwing for 186 yards, two touchdowns and a pick against the Raiders defense.

  1. Andy Dalton

It’s a shame that Ezekiel Elliot had such a big recession this year because that means that we are forced to see Dalton throw the ball 48 times. Naturally this game is in prime time, ugh. Anyway, Dalton looked like classic Dalton, throwing for 285 yards, two touchdowns and a pick against the Ravens defense. Dalton is not the future, and the Cowboys will just have to suffer through this season and wait for Dak to come back.

  1. Mitch Trubisky

Trubisky had an OK game against the Lions, not enough to win but still he wasn’t the usual tire fire today. David Montgomery really helped him to look a lot better than he was with his performance. The jury is still out on whether Trubisky can play, but if I am the Bears I would rather dump him and take a chance on another quarterback in the draft.

  1. Nick Mullens

Mullens struggled against a Bills team that was better in every aspect of their team, including the quarterback. Although Mullens threw for 316 yards and three touchdowns, he still threw two picks and looked completely inferior to the Bills on Monday night.

  1. Drew Lock

Lock is playing slightly better, but he is still interception prone and is not exactly helping the Broncos win big games, or really any games for that matter. It is entirely possible that once the Broncos get an offseason to get their team in sync, Lock will look much better and this offense will start being competitive again. For now at least, the chances of that seem slim.

  1. Colt McCoy

Colt McCoy beat Russell Wilson by passing for 105 yards. Just read that sentence for a second. Really take it in.

  1. Mike Glennon

At one point in this game Mike Glennon had not thrown any incompletions and had a touchdown, at which point I said “Wait.. Is Mike Glennon good?” My question was readily answered by the two interceptions that followed, and Glennon proved to be his usual self against a much more talented Vikings team.

  1. Cam Newton

The Patriots beat the Chargers 45-0, so that means that Cam had a great game right? Wrong. In the first place the Patriots got a lot of special teams and defense help, not to mention Justin Herbert being god awful. To give you some perspective, Cam threw for 69 yards and a touchdown, that’s only eight yards less than Jarrett Stidham, and Cam threw for 12 completions compared to Stidham’s 3.

  1. Brandon Allen

In Allen’s second start in a Bengals uniform, the Bengals lost in a 7-19 showdown against the Miami Dolphins. Allen’s less than ideal performance was not surprising, just disappointing. Anyway, Allen left with injury after throwing 11/19 passes for 153 yards, a touchdown, and a pick. Cue the Ryan Finley show.

  1. Justin Herbert

Off of 53 attempts you couldn’t even throw one touchdown on the Patriots? Come on Justin that’s not the way to go. Herbert did nothing to save the Chargers from a 45-0 beating on Sunday night, which probably scares Chargers fans silly. The last thing you want after having Phillip Rivers for over a decade is yet another quarterback with no clutch ability.

  1. Ryan Finley

We already know what to expect out of Ryan Finley, who was randomly allowed to start games last year over Andy Dalton (I want to have a long talk with the clown who made that decision), and thus his performance of 40 yards and an interception was not unexpected.

  1. Jalen Hurts

Hurts was finally allowed to come in relief of Wentz in the 30-16 demolishing of the Philadelphia Eagles, and his start was nothing special. While I think it is definitely fair to let him get a start or two before the harsh judgements rain down, 5/12 for 109 yards, a touchdown, and an interception is not an impressive statline.

  1. Carson Wentz

After weeks and weeks of Eagles fans calling for the benching of Carson Wentz in favor of rookie Jalen Hurts, it finally happened on Sunday after Wentz. Wentz had a particularly awful day against the Green Bay Packers, throwing for 6 completions off of 15 attempts for a whole 79 yards.
